Summary Of The Little Girl
“The Little Girl” is a story about a young girl named Kezia who lives with her parents and grandmother. Kezia is afraid of her strict father, who she perceives as harsh and unapproachable. She feels relieved when he leaves for work and trembles with fear in his presence. Her grandmother encourages her to understand her parents better, but Kezia finds it difficult.
One day, Kezia decides to make a pin cushion for her father’s birthday. She stuffs it with pieces of paper she finds in her mother’s room, not realizing they are her father’s important documents. When her father discovers this, he punishes her severely, leaving her confused and hurt.
Kezia’s perception of her father begins to change when her mother falls ill and she has to stay alone with him. One night, she has a nightmare and her father comforts her, showing a softer side. She realizes that her father loves her, even if he doesn’t always show it in ways she understands. This story highlights the complexities of parent-child relationships and the misunderstandings that can arise from fear and lack of communication.
